David Sacks Appointed as ‘White House A.I. and Crypto Czar’ by Donald Trump

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has appointed David O. Sacks, founder of Yammer and former COO of PayPal, as the new “White House A.I. and Crypto Czar.” This role is designed to shape policy in two significant and emerging sectors: artificial intelligence and crypto.

In a statement released Thursday on Truth Social, Trump emphasized the importance of these fields for the future of American competitiveness.

He indicated that Sacks would be responsible for developing a legal framework aimed at providing clarity in the U.S. cryptocurrency sector, which has faced regulatory uncertainties.

Sacks will also take the helm of the Presidential Council of Advisors for Science and Technology, a position that underscores the administration’s focus on scientific innovation and technology policy.

The announcement reflects Trump’s ongoing advocacy for cryptocurrency, a theme prominent throughout his election campaign.

The appointment is part of Trump’s broader strategy to fill key positions with pro-crypto candidates. Earlier this week, he named Paul Atkins, a former Republican Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), to chair the agency following Chairman Gary Gensler’s planned departure in January.
